PLANTS CARE

Congratulations on becoming a plant parent!

Here are a few tips to consider keeping your houseplant happy and healthy. Remember to always follow the specific care advice if given with your plant.

Give your plants plenty of light.

One of the main concerns for houseplants is making sure they get enough light. Keeping your plants on a side table in your living room may look good, but if its too far from a window, your plant may not last long. Look up the sun requirements for your specific plant, and move them to a location that best matches those requirements. Basic light requirements are as follows:

  • Plants that need 'full sunlight' should be placed somewhere that gets 4-6 hours of direct light per day.
  • Plants that need 'partial sunlight' should be placed somewhere that gets 2-3 hours of direct light per day.
  • Plants that need 'shade' should be placed somewhere that gets 1 hour of direct light per day.

Skip Fertilizartion for Houseplants if You Are Unsure

As a general rule house houseplants don't require fertilization unless they are struggling to grow. If you're unsure of how much or what type of fertilization to use it's better to skip this step altogether. Too much fertilization may actually end up killing your plant rather than helping it.

Simple Steps to Re-potting Your Plant

  • Remove the plant from its current pot. Turn your plant sideways, hold it gently by the stems or leaves and tap the bottom of its current vessel until the plant slides out.
  • Loosen the roots
  • Remove the old potting mix.
  • Add new potting mix to desired pot.
  • Add your plant.
  • Water and enjoy.
