Glenfield is a residential suburb located 36 kilometres southwest of Sydney`s central business district, in the Macarthur Region. The suburb forms part of the local government area of the City of Campbelltown and is situated between Casula to the north and Macquarie Fields to the south. Glenfield sits adjacent to the vast Holsworthy bushland.
Following European settlement, one of the area`s earliest properties was named Glenfield, after the village of the same name in Leicestershire, England. Glenfield railway station opened in 1869, and a village began to develop in 1881. Glenfield was largely a rural area up until the 1950s when it began to develop into a residential suburb.
Hurlstone Agricultural High School is situated in the suburb`s centre. Glenfield enjoys a number of green spaces dotted throughout its residential development, including Childs Reserve, Binman Oval, Trobriand Park and Glenfield Park. Georges River Nature Reserve is found in the suburb`s east, adjacent to the expansive bushland of Holsworthy. A comprehensive array of shops and amenities are located nearby in the neighbouring suburbs of Casula and Macquarie Fields.
