Moorebank is a large industrial and residential suburb located 27 kilometres southwest of Sydney`s central business district, in the local government area of the City of Liverpool. Moorebank is named after early European settler Thomas More. Moorebank was initially an agricultural area, developing into a residential and industrial suburb in the latter half of the 20th century. Moorebank`s shopping centre and Nuwarra Public School opened in the early 1970s.
