Mount Pritchard is a residential suburb located 34 kilometres southwest of Sydney`s central business district, in the South Western Sydney region. The suburb forms part of the local government areas of the City of Fairfield and the City of Liverpool. Mount Pritchard is found between Cabramatta West to the north and Heckenberg to the south.
The Cabrogal people were the original inhabitants of the Mount Pritchard area. Following European settlement, the district was a farming area for former convicts in the early 19th century. In 1913, property salesman Hugh Pritchard subdivided larger estates into smaller residential lots. Pritchard covered the debts of a number of landowners whom he`d financed, and the suburb was consequently named Mount Pritchard in his honour.
Lions Lookout is found in the suburb`s south, and enjoys scenic views over Western Sydney and the Sydney CBD skyline. Mounties Social Club is situated in Mount Pritchard`s northwest. Cabramatta Golf Club lies adjacent to the suburb`s eastern border, not far from Joe Broad Park and Cabramatta Creek.
