Narellan is a residential and commercial suburb located 60 kilometres southwest of Sydney`s central business district, in the Macarthur region. The suburb forms part of the local government area of Camden Council and is found between Harrington Park to the north and Elderslie to the south. The Tharawal people were the original inhabitants of the area that makes up Narellan today. Following European settlement, from the early 1800s up until the late 20th century, Narellan was a farming district. Narellan Post Office opened in 1856. In recent decades, as Sydney`s suburban sprawl expanded, Narellan was subdivided and has since transformed into a residential suburb.
