Revesby is a residential suburb located 22 kilometres southwest of Sydney`s central business district, in the South Western Sydney region. The suburb forms part of the local government area of the City of Canterbury-Bankstown and is found between Bankstown to the north and Picnic Point to the south. The suburb enjoys a lively retail precinct as well as proximity to the Georges River.
Following European settlement, the first land grant in the area that makes up Revesby today was made to George Johnston in 1804. The suburb was originally an agricultural area and was officially named Revesby in 1913 after Revesby Abbey, Sir Joseph Banks` estate in Lincolnshire, England. Revesby Public School, Revesby Railway Station and Revesby Post Office opened in 1896, 1931 and 1955 respectively.
Revesby`s retail precinct, Revesby Shopping Village, is located in the centre of the suburb`s expansive residential area, adjacent to Revesby Station. Max Parker Leisure & Aquatic Centre is found nearby, further to the west. Revesby features a small light industrial area in its northwest, on the northern side of the South Western Motorway.
