Warwick Farm is a recreational and residential suburb located 30 kilometres west of Sydney`s central business district, in the South Western Sydney region. Home to Warwick Farm Racecourse, the suburb forms part of the local government area of the City of Liverpool and is found between Cabramatta to the north and Liverpool to the south. Warwick Farm enjoys extensive waterfronts on the Georges River and Cabramatta Creek.
Following European settlement, Irish political prisoners transported to Australia after the Irish Rebellion of 1798 originally occupied the area that makes up Warwick Farm today. A number of land grants were made in 1809 and the district was informally known as Irish Town. A property established in 1804 was named Warwick after the region of the same name in England. This site is now home to Warwick Farm Racecourse, which opened in 1889.
Warwick Farm Racecourse is located in the suburb`s northeast, adjacent to the Georges River and Cabramatta Creek. Warwick Farm railway station is situated in the suburb`s central residential region. The William Inglis Hotel - M Gallery by Sofitel is found next to Warwick Farm Racecourse, on the Georges River.
