Wattle Grove is a residential suburb located 30 kilometres southwest of Sydney`s central business district, in the local government area of the City of Liverpool. The suburb is placed adjacent to the expansive bushland of Holsworthy and enjoys proximity to Liverpool CBD and the Georges River. Wattle Grove is found between Moorebank to the north and Holsworthy to the south.
The Tharawal people were the original inhabitants of the land that makes up Wattle Grove today. Up until recent decades, the Australian Defence Force occupied the suburb. Plans were first made in the 1970s to redevelop the suburb into a residential area. Infrastructure was built and development took place, culminating in Wattle Grove`s official "opening" in 1992.
Wattle Grove is a relatively new suburb. Its main shopping centre reopened in 2007 and is found in the suburb`s central east. Wattle Grove Lake, which was artificially constructed in 1990, is situated in the suburb`s northern portion and is completely surrounded by Lakeside Park. The Holsworthy bushland lies adjacent to Wattle Grove`s southern border.
